Frances & Charlie's Wedding

At Tewinbury

Frances & Charlie's Story

Frances & Charlie at Tewinbury

Frances and Charlie first discovered Tewinbury not through weddings, but through food. Living nearby, they had passed the farm a few times, always curious. When Frances came across one of our outdoor Roots dinners, she booked immediately.

What followed set the tone for everything that came after.

Where it all began

Set in the garden, the dinner was more than just a meal. A walk through the allotment, a conversation around the menu, food cooked over fire and served outdoors. It was the kind of experience that felt relaxed but considered, rooted in the land around it.

By the end of the evening, it was clear.

“By the time we got to the cake, we knew this was the feel we wanted for our wedding day.”

They enquired there and then.

A weekend that felt like their own

A few weeks later, Frances and Charlie returned for a showround. What stood out straight away was the flexibility. While there were existing packages, nothing felt fixed. They could shape the weekend entirely around how they wanted it to feel.

From the start, they imagined something that unfolded over time. A relaxed evening with family the night before. An intimate ceremony and long, slow lunch. Then a bigger celebration into the evening.

“We could really see the weekend we’d imagined coming to life.”

It was also important to choose somewhere they would return to, long after the wedding itself. A place that would hold meaning beyond just one day.

Planning across the farm

Working closely with Lauren and the team, Frances and Charlie curated a multi space wedding across Tewinbury, using Kingsbridge House, the Roots Garden, the Tythe Barn and the surrounding fields.

The planning process felt collaborative throughout. Questions were answered quickly, ideas were shared openly and regular check ins helped keep everything moving without feeling overwhelming.

From transport between spaces to accommodating guests with children, every detail was considered.

“We had the freedom to curate the weekend we wanted… and felt supported every step of the way.”

The night before

The couple arrived with immediate family the day before the wedding, settling into Kingsbridge House. Tucked away with its own garden, it became the base for the start of the celebrations.

That evening, they hosted a casual barbecue with their closest family. A simple, relaxed way to bring everyone together before the day itself.

Having everyone in one place made it feel easy from the start, with the added bonus of separate entrances allowing for a quiet escape the next morning.

The wedding day

The day began slowly. Breakfast, a walk through the fields, spotting pigs in the distance. A calm start before everything unfolded.

With both Kingsbridge and the rooms at the Tythe Barn available for getting ready, there was space for everyone, while Charlotte ensured everything behind the scenes ran smoothly. From coordinating suppliers to keeping food and drinks flowing throughout the morning, the atmosphere stayed relaxed and unhurried.

It was a hot summer day, so thoughtful touches made all the difference. Parasols were arranged to shade the long banquet table, and contingency plans were put in place to keep guests comfortable throughout the ceremony.

After the ceremony, guests gathered in the allotment garden. Before sitting down, the chef shared a short talk about the sourcing of the menu, bringing the farm to fork ethos into the moment.

Lunch followed. Long tables, seasonal food, time to sit and enjoy it properly.

As the day moved into evening, guests drifted towards the courtyard for the reception. The transition between spaces felt natural, with no rush, just a steady build into the party.

“Guests loved the food and the setting, and the flow between locations felt completely seamless.”

Later in the night, small details added to the atmosphere. An ice luge, mezcal sourced specially from the bar, and a dancefloor that carried on well into the evening.

The morning after

The following day was just as important. A chance to slow things down and spend a little more time together before everyone headed home.

After breakfast in the Cowshed, stories were shared from the night before, followed by a few rounds of rounders in the fields near Roots.

It was simple, easy and exactly how they wanted to end the weekend.

“Many of our guests chose to make a full weekend out of it.”
