Tewinbury Farm Hotel

  1. Introduction and Pre-Arrival

    Tewinbury Farm Hotel is located close to the village of Tewin and the neighbouring town of Welwyn Garden City.

    We have 45 bedrooms and 9 meeting rooms across two floors.

    Our nearest railway station is Welwyn North Station, approximately a 4-minute drive (1.8 miles) from the hotel. For accessibility queries at the station, please contact 0345 0264 700.

    We recommend A1 Taxis, a local company with accessible taxis in their fleet. Advance booking is advisable: 01727 866 666.

  2. Car Parking and Arrival
    • We have 1 accessible parking space to the left of reception and 2 check-in spaces directly in front of the building.

    • Our 2 accessible bedrooms each have an accessible parking space directly outside.

    • There are 4 car parks on site, with accessible spaces close to all venues.

    • Many ground-floor bedrooms have parking immediately outside.

    Our reception is open 24 hours a day.

    We have two entrances to reception:

    • One with a small step

    • One step-free

    We do not have luggage porters, but assistance is available on request.

    If you require help during an emergency evacuation, please inform a member of the reception team at or before check-in.

  3. Main Entrance & Reception
    • Reception and guest lounge are on the ground floor of the main Farmhouse.

    • Space allows easy manoeuvring of pushchairs and wheelchairs.

    • Seating includes sofas, chairs, and a mix of high and low tables.

    • Flooring is wooden.

    • All areas are well lit.

    • There is no TV in this area.

    • Check-in is at the main reception desk, or in the guest lounge upon request.

  4. Bedrooms
    • 26 ground-floor bedrooms, including 3 accessible bedrooms

    • 10 first-floor bedrooms in the main hotel (stair access only; no lift)

    • 2 ground floor lodges

    • 8 ground floor huts with 2 steps

    Bedroom details:

    • Accessible superior room: king-sized bed, 40” wide entrance door

    • Accessible deluxe room: super king-sized bed (or 2 singles on request), 37” wide entrance door

    • Bed height: 23” to top of mattress

    • Furniture can be rearranged or removed on request.

    • LED lighting throughout; additional lighting available.

    • Feather-free bedding on request

    • Bedroom doors are marked by name (not in braille or raised format).

  5. Bathrooms
    • Accessible bedrooms include bath, wet room shower, toilet, and sink, all equipped with grab rails, shower seat, and toilet frame.

    • Flat access from bedroom, well-lit with wall and ceiling lights.

    • Red emergency cord linked to reception.

    • Shower and taps use a turn mechanism.

    • Accessible toilets are available in all event venues and the Granary Kitchen and Terrace Bar.

    • There is no accessible toilet in the reception building due to its layout.

  6. Public Areas
    • Corridors are well lit (wall lights and ceiling spotlights).

    • Flooring is wooden or carpeted depending on the area.

  7. Cowshed Restaurant, Stable Wine Bar & Granary Kitchen Bar & Terrace
    • Ground floor, step-free access, wooden flooring.

    • Well lit during the day; lights dimmed in the evening.

    • Granary Kitchen Bar has two entrances: one with a step, the other with a ramp and power-assisted door.

    • Outdoor terrace is level with no steps.

    • Space for wheelchairs/pushchairs; furniture can be moved.

    • Room service available 24 hours (limited menu 9:30pm–7am).

    • Menus can be read aloud by staff.

    • Table service or buffet assistance available.

    • We accommodate dietary requests; please notify us in advance where possible.

  8. Event, Conference and Meeting Rooms
    • 9 meeting rooms: 6 ground floor, 3 first floor.

    • Lift access to first-floor meeting rooms.

    • Flooring is wooden; areas are well lit with ceiling spotlights and natural light.

    • Accessible toilets available in all venues.

  9. Additional Information
    • Assistance dogs are welcome at no extra charge. Food/water bowls and dog beds can be provided in bedrooms.
