Recycling
Tewin bury Farm has an active and comprehensive recycling policy. We recycle many of the by-products of our business in an effort to minimise our impact on the immediate and wider environment.
Cardboard & Plastic
We receive a large number of deliveries on a daily basis, from fresh produce to conference pads and pencils, much of which comes in cardboard boxes with a plastic lining. To manage this effectively we have installed a cardboard and plastic bailer and are currently recycling 99% of this packaging, which equates to almost a ton per month and makes a big contribution towards our '0% to landfill' objective.
Bio Degradable
We estimate that on average around 750 guests dine with us each week, from breakfast in the restaurant to a lavish gala dinner at a grand ball! To minimise the environmental impact of the food waste we generate, we work with Cawleys, an established waste and recycling specialist, who provide us with a sustainable food waste disposal system.
The vehicle that collects our food waste runs on bio-fuel which gives a boost to the scheme's sustainability, and Cawleys' recycling process creates electricity which is fed back into the National Grid, as well as organic fertiliser.
Glass
As well as fine dining, our 750 guests also like to have a drink with their food and order a range of drinks from a glass of mineral water to a glass of fine champagne!
Greenstar collects and reprocess all of our green, brown and clear glass waste which amounts to around three tons per month!
Paper
To keep paper waste to a minimum we have a very strict 'think before you print' policy and we also use email for all internal communications.
For unavoidable paper waste we use recycling bins for white and coloured paper, post-it notes, computer paper, non-windowed envelopes, carbon paper and fax paper. This is another project we work on with Cawleys which helps towards our '0% to landfill' objective.
