Conservation
Watch Out
An area of our land is now recognised by the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The Trust has recently erected a new 2 tier bird watching tower which is proving to be a great facility for local conservationists and nature lovers.
Buzz Off
A local bee keeper approached us to re-house her surviving healthy hives after the majority of her stock had been attacked by disease. We are especially interested in this project due to the importance of bees to the environment and to our food crops, and are happy to report the bees are thriving in their new home.
Wild Thing
Wild Orchids grow on our land alongside the river Mimram but are in constant danger of being choked by the bitter grass that grows in this wetland area. So every year we invite a herd of Long Horn Cattle, the only breed that will eat this type of grass, to Tewin Bury Farm for a 'holiday'. Whilst they're here the cows help these beautiful wild flowers flourish by happily munching the grass and poaching the land alongside the river.
